2009 Spring Winners!

Please join us in congratulating these students for their work!

FIRST PLACE:
Jonathan Yarrow, Wakefield HS, $1,000

From the Photographer

YarrowI will graduate from Wakefield High School and have been accepted to Kansas State University. I will major in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Digital Media or Advertising. My plans as a college student include many activities along with academic work. I am excited about the many opportunities that college life offers such as clubs, intramural sports, Student Senate, and the Collegian. One goal of mine is to become an accomplished photographer for the Collegian or the yearbook, The Royal Purple.

My plans after college are to work in the advertising/promotional field or digital media field. I would like to work for a television station, website, or any outlet that uses media as a promotional tool. My dream job would be to work for K-State in advertising, designing logos and other types of media.

My entry in the Rural Voices Youth Contest is very significant to me because it represents my life and all of the work I have done in photography for the last four years. All of the photos represent some aspect of my life that I enjoy. Photography is a passion of mine and I feel that I have adequately represented rural life in my photographs.

I would like to thank the judges for all of their time and work evaluating the entries for Rural Voices Youth Contest. I am glad that they took the time to evaluate and support different types of media. I would also like to thank them for supporting rural life and the future of Kansas’ youth.
